Why don’t we progress in our jobs?

I was watchng this video the other day, and the guy was talking about this subject, and basiccaly came to the conclusion that in our world today the averagework of people has lowered so much, that this is the result we are faced with. This was based on some statistic set up by the US government.
He mentioned that nowadays people are just used to the fact that everything is just OK, nomatter what we do.
For example 50 years ago when our granparents was alive and working, the averageperson would get up in the morning, go to work and do a decent amount of work.
But today it is made ok to just stay at home and be a bunch of lazy people.
- The average American has the TV turned on 8 hours and 14 min. every day.
- 20% of people watch TV online, whilest being at work. And then they complain that they get ahead and that their boss is keeping then down.
“…what about turning the tv off and doing your freaking job!” - 61% gossip.
- 50% took care of personal finances.
- 20% do phonecalls not related to work.
- 38% do jobhunting. And how stupid is that. Though it might not be as stupid as the person taking the call and asking them to come in for an interview after having made the appointment in another employers workhours.
No wonder their is room for so many shows like Dr. Phil’s and all the other ones.
